Anonymous recommendation that African Americans emigrate to Liberia given the success of white supremists in the Southern States to reestablish control. “To the Negro in the North, life implies social inequalities, and is surrounded by the antagonism of races, but in the South life to him means an abject surrender of self-respect, of political liberty, of all rights and privileges as dear to him as to us; indeed it means when opportunity offers, re-enslavement in fact if not in name.” The author gives three reasons why emigration to Liberia is the best option available to African Americans living in the South.
