Whole issue of “an illustrated monthly, devoted to literature, science, music, art, religion, facts, fiction and traditions of the Negro race.” The magazine is illustrated with photographs and displays advertisements in the front and back. This issue has an article entitled “Reminiscences of the Life of Harriet Beecher Stowe and Her Family” by G. Grant Williams. In addition to a photograph of the Stowe residence in Hartford, Connecticut, the article has portraits of Henry Ward Beecher, Harriett Beecher Stowe, Hon. John Hooker, and Mrs. Isabella Beecher Hooker.
