Whole issue of “an illustrated monthly, devoted to literature, science, music, art, religion, facts, fiction and traditions of the Negro race.” The magazine is illustrated with photographs and displays advertisements on the last page and back cover. A photograph of Miss Maud D. Davis appears on the cover. She is described in the issue as the recoding secretary of the Fleur-de-lis Social Club of Brooklyn, New York. She is interested in “raising the standard of moral and social ethics among the young people of the community, and especially those who might become members of the club.”
