In-depth study of the demographic and economic status of African Americans in Farmville, Virginia, in 1897. The author gathered data from 1225 residents, about 83% of the black population of Farmville. In addition to age and gender, the author provides data on marital status, school attendance, marital status, occupations and wages, family size, annual income, etc. (The collection has another copy of this report in volume 9 [no. 7].)
