Reaction to a letter from Albert Bushnell Hart concerning his article in the Independent, in which Professor Hart criticized the South for its handling of race relations. Watson had attacked Hart in an earlier editorial and now gloats over the Professor’s attempt to clarify his position. (The collection has a copy of Professor Hart’s article in the Independent [volume 4, no. 24] as well as Watson’s rejoinder [volume 4, no. 1].)
