Biographical sketch of the Russian poet, novelist, and playwright, Aleksander Pushkin. Mr. Stone’s interest in this article is based, at least in part, on the author’s observation that Pushkin’s great-grandfather was an African prince stolen during his infancy by slave dealers and sold to the Russian ambassador in Constantinople.
