Narrative of a man of mixed ancestry who spent his childhood as a slave in Kentucky. Eventually, he made his way to Oberlin, Ohio, and gained his freedom. The narrative contains rich detail of slave life and the underground railroad. (The collection has a copy of Lewis Clarke’s narrative distributed by another printer in volume 48 [no. 2].)
