Political tract advocating passage of an amendment to the Connecticut constitution that would strike the word “white” from the article specifying qualifications for electors. The pamphlet contains seventeen arguments in favor of granting African Americans the right to vote. (The amendment failed decisively in the legislature, and black suffrage would not occur in Connecticut until passage of the fifteenth amendment in 1869.)
