Cross-cultural study of African Americans attempting to determine which characteristics can be traced to their African roots. The monograph is divided into three parts: 1) “The Negro in West Africa,” 2) “The Negro under American Slavery,” and 3) “The Negro as a Free Citizen.” There is no index, but there is a bibliography with approximately 120 titles.
