Address of the Chief of the Department of Economics and Sociology at the Carnegie Institution in which he reports on progress being made to compile an economic history of the United States. To that end, the executive committee of the Carnegie Institution divided the project into eleven areas, each headed by an authority in that area. A brief description of each area is included in the address.
