Annual report for a home of black senior citizens in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The report includes a list of residents admitted since 1865. The oldest, Chloe Lloyd, was over one hundred years old in 1881. Among other things, the residents had to hand over all of their property and personal effects upon admission, were expected to attend a Bible reading every morning after they got up and every night before going to bed, and could not use any stimulants or liquors unless ordered by a physician. A woodcut of the home appears on the back cover.
