Report on attempts by Southern states to extend slavery into the western territories. The report resulted in the Legislature’s adoption of resolutions objecting to the extension of slavery, objecting to the admission of any state that legalizes slavery, and seeking to abolish slavery and the slave trade in District of Columbia.
