15. D. E. Emerson, Bureau of Woman’s Work. Freedwomen of the South (N.p., n.d.). (8 p.)
Report on the condition of freedwomen in the Southern states, especially in regard to their need for educational opportunities. The author concludes her report with this paragraph. “One other thing you can all do—pray for us and our work. If you could hear the students in these school pray for you, first for the A.M.A., then for its supporters, with an earnestness that shows how grateful they are and that they remember you, and realize from whence cometh their help! If you pray for us as earnestly as our students pray for you, and as often, the Lord will bless us most abundantly.”
