7. Lafcadio Hearn, “A Study of Half-Breed races in the West Indies,” Cosmopolitan (June 1890): 167-72.
Demeaning study of persons with a mixed-race ancestry in the British West Indies, who are blamed for the antagonism that exists between pure-race blacks and whites. This article contains four photographs, three of mixed-race women and one of a white Creole from Louisiana. (The collection has another copy of this article in volume 81 [no. 18].)
