48. Address to the People of the Southern States ([Washington, DC?]: n.p., [1850?]). (8 p.)

Report of a committee formed to determine the viability of establishing a newspaper in the District of Columbia that would report the news from slaveholder’s perspective. The impetus for a setting up a pro-slavery organ was derived from a perception that existing newspapers were biased toward Northern interests. The names of Southern senators and representatives endorsing the project can be found on the first two pages of the pamphlet.
