Anti-slavery tract urging Congress to abolish slavery in the District of Columbia and Florida, which was a territory at the time, and to outlaw the internal slave trade (i.e., between states). “The effect of its [the internal slave trade’s] abolition upon slavery can be seen when it is remembered that one portion of the South grows slaves for sale, as Vermonters do sheep; while the other portion buys them, to exhaust them in their cane fields and rice swamps” (emphasis in original).
