14. Howard’s American Magazine (Monthly) Devoted to the Educational, Religious, Industrial, Social and Political Progress of the Colored Race (March 1901): 306-44.


Whole issue of a periodical for African American readers. The lead article is entitled “The Industrial Progress of the Negro in the North and South.” Mr. Stone has marked two paragraphs in an article entitled “Labor Organizations vs. Negro Mechanics and Laborers.” The issue is illustrated with numerous photographs, including pictures of black workers in a steel mill, black policemen, and black firemen, all three taken in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There are ten pages of advertisements in the front and ten pages in at the end of the issue.
