Transmission of four resolutions passed by the Michigan legislature in response to the secession of several Southern states. These resolutions reaffirm Michigan’s loyalty to the Union and assert “that concession and compromise are not to be entertained or offered to traitors, while the rights and interests of union-loving citizens should be regarded and respected in every place and under all circumstances.”
