18. American History Studies, 5 (no. 4, n.d.): 53-75.

Whole issue of a series reprinting sources in American History for use in the classroom. This issue contains excerpts from remarks made in a 1836 debate over slavery by the Reverend Robert Jefferson Breckinridge, in which he argues that slavery is a necessary evil, and an Anti-Slavery Manual published by the Reverend La Roy Sunderland in 1837. The Anti-Slavery Manual summarizes basic abolitionist principles in clear and concise language. Today, this language would be called “talking points.”
