Sketch of the author’s childhood in Africa, where he attended a mission school. The author later came to the United States and graduated from Lincoln University. At the time he wrote the pamphlet, Peabody was a candidate for the ministry in the Congregational Church and intended to return to Africa in order to evangelize his tribe, the Bassa in Liberia.
