Account of a conference of African Americans at the Hampton Institute, which ended with the passage of eleven recommendations, such as “That negroes be urged to become landholders and we suggest as the best means to this end the formation of land companies to purchase large tracts, which may be subdivided and sold on terms to suit the master.”
