Harriette Shields Dixon was president of the Natchez Garden Club from 1936 until 1937.Scope and Content:
The scrapbooks that Dixon assembled during and after her tenure as club president include clippings, photographs, and pamphlets documenting the activities of both the Natchez and Pilgrimage Garden Clubs. The first volume contains clippings related to the rift that developed between the two clubs in the late 1930s, especially articles concerning the legal battle between the clubs in 1941. The second volume contains publicity material related to the pilgrimages organized by the Natchez Garden Club, as well as articles about the pilgrimage and Natchez in general.Series Identification:
