Biography/History:

Ollie Mae Tribble, daughter of W. O. and Annie Lee Tribble, of Clay County, Mississippi, was a senior at Mississippi Synodical College in Holly Springs, Mississippi, in 1918. Following her graduation she married Dewey Aldridge, and they moved to Leland, Mississippi.

Mississippi Synodical College, the first accredited standard junior college in the state, was founded in Holly Springs by Elizabeth Watson in 1866. The school, originally called Fenelon Hall, was located in the home of Watson's father. Its name was changed to the Maury Institute in 1882 when the institution became a boarding school. The school was endorsed by the North Mississippi Presbytery in 1888, and it became the North Mississippi Presbyterian College in 1891. When synodical lines were redrawn in 1903, control of the school was transferred from the Memphis synod to the Mississippi synod, and the school's name was changed to the Mississippi Synodical College. It became a standard junior college in 1916. The school closed its doors in 1939 when it merged with Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi. The former administration building of Mississippi Synodical College currently houses the Marshall County Historical Museum.

The scrapbook was compiled during 1918, Ollie Mae Tribble's final year at the Mississippi Synodical College. The volume contains clippings from newspapers and magazines, cards, memorabilia (textiles), and some of Tribble's handwritten meditations on college life.
