Biography/History:

The Pioneer Club was founded in Jackson, Mississippi, in May 1936, "to conserve and utilize the historic interests of the city of Jackson; to discover, collect and preserve all historic material relating to the development and growth of the city." Membership was limited to men and women whose families had been continuous residents of Jackson for at least fifty years.

Scope and Content:

This collection consists of the revised bylaws and membership list and the sesquicentennial yearbook of the Pioneer Club of Jackson, Mississippi. There are also manuscripts and typescripts of various papers that were read at club meetings. Included are photographs of various Jackson public-school classes.
