SESSIONS (JOSEPH F.) PAPERS

1861; 1863 - 1864

Joseph F. Sessions served in the Confederate army as captain of the Eighteenth Mississippi Infantry, Company K. This collection contains a letter, dated October 5, 1864, written by Colonel I. G. W. Steedman M.D., First Alabama Infantry, and Captain D. E. Locke, M.D., [?] Alabama Cavalry, Company F, to Captain J. F. Sessions, Eighteenth Mississippi Infantry, Company K. The letter was written from the hospital of the Union prisoner-of-war camp located on Johnson's Island Ohio. Also included are two letters written by an unidentified Confederate soldier to his wife, Lida. The first letter, dated July 7, 1861, was written from Camp Walker, near Manassas, Virginia, and the second letter, dated January 28, 1863, was written from Fredericksburg, Virginia.
