The church was organized on October 3, 1905, although there are no minutes of the organizational meeting. The names of the charter members were recorded in the first record book in 1915 in alphabetical order with names of other members who joined between 1905 and 1915.
The church belonged to the Aberdeen Baptist Association from 1905 till 1919, when that association dissolved so that its churches could go into county associations. In that year, Algoma was one of the churches which organized the Pontotoc County Baptist Association.
The records consist of two volumes of membership rolls and minutes of church conferences. The older volume also contains a church history and other material added on the occasion of the celebration of the church's seventy-fifth anniversary celebration, October 11, 1980.
