According to the church history, the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Route 2, Lake, was organized in October 1902 under the leadership of Rev. Z. T. Faulkner of Forest. The church became affiliated with the Hopewell Baptist Association which later changed its name to the Scott County Baptist Association.
According to a note preceding the minutes of the church conference of the 4th Sunday in September 1911, the earlier minutes were destroyed. Two bound volumes contain minutes of the church conferences and church rolls. A loose-leaf notebook contains scrapbook entries of letters, clippings, snapshots, history and statistics kept during the Church Development Year, August 1964–August 1965.
