The Community Chest, a fund raising campaign for the benefit of social agencies in Jackson, was incorporated in 1939 and lasted until 1954 when its net funds were turned over to the United Givers Fund of Jackson.

The collection contains the following material: minutes of the Community Chest Budget Committee, January 31, 1948–October 1950 (ff. 1–7); minutes of the Community Chest Board of Directors, February 16, 1950–April 12, 1951 (ff. 8–10); report of the Council of Social Agencies to the Community Chest of Jackson regarding the progress of its work with respect to the division of responsibilities between public and private health and welfare agencies, June 14, 1948 (ff. 11); and a report by Robert Warren concerning the Community Chest campaign of 1947 (ff. 12).
