An original livestock mark registry of J. T. Carty, Clay County, November 29, 1886. Mr. Carty was a native of Ireland but later moved to Clay County several years after the Civil War. He was the grandfather of Joseph Wyndell Carty, a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives.
