Two letters concerning the imprisonment of a Mr. Spierin in the Mississippi State Penitentiary. One letter, dated June 25, 1855, to Charles W. Boyd from E. P. Rupert(?), superintendent of the penitentiary, discusses how Spierin had been conducting himself. The second letter, August 13, 1855, was apparently written by Spierin's mother requesting his release. Charles W. Boyd was the brother-in-law of Spierin and was later a Justice of the Peace in Yazoo County.
