ROYAL ROUTE COMPANY PAPERS

Royal Route Company, Limited, chartered September 15, 1903, in the State if Louisiana with Vidalia as its principal terminal, was engaged in general steamboat, barge, ferry, and towing business. This collection includes the original charter of Royal Route Company, amended charter 1910, bills of lading, work orders, bills receivable, bills payable, court records concerning competitors, blue prints of ferry boats, road crossings on levees, inter-office memos, and gasoline tax refund forms. The volumes are daily work records, tonnage records, annual and semi-annual audits, pertinent to this type business.

Also included are papers of Prince and Wilds, partnership, which not only controlled Royal Route Company, but also Natchez and Vidalia Ferry. Court Records reveal the lengthy legal proceedings of S. B. McNeely v. Town of Vidalia, Louisiana, and the Town of Natchez v. S. B. McNeely in obtaining license to operate a ferry between the two points.
