Business records of J. H. Danjean & Company, Ltd., of Port Gibson. The firm operated as cotton buyer, dealer in dry goods, groceries, and general plantation supplies. The five account books cover the period 1865–1898. The miscellaneous items are promissory notes, receipts, canceled checks, deeds of trust, a statement of the estimated receipts and disbursements of the City of Port Gibson for the period October 1, 1899–April 30, 1900, and a statement of the Electric Light and Waterworks Fund of the Corporation, Port Gibson, for June and July, 1899. One letter dated Natchez, May 7, 1817, is addressed to Mr. Frances Wood, Port Gibson, and is signed by J. D. Wood.
