This collection consists of two variant drafts of a typewritten manuscript of the "Collected Poems of Andrew Haslett," compiled by E. S. Campbell. One portion of the poems was found printed in the newspapers, the Washington Republican and the Natchez Intelligencer for the years 1816-1817. The remainder of the collection was taken from a volume by Andrew Haslett entitled Original Poems and Miscellaneous Pieces, published by R. Gamble of Philadelphia in 1812. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Andrew Haslett came to the Mississippi Territory in 1816, where he wrote several poems on various topics.
