The material in this collection is in two folders. Among the items are letters written to John J. Hood by the Reverend C. K. Marshall and a notebook containing copies of letters written to the Reverend Marshall, F. H. Foote and Colonel J. F. K. Claiborne. The letters to F. H. Foote and Colonel Claiborne gives a complete history of the purpose and function of the "Mississippi Depot and Intelligence Office." Dr. C. K. Marshall operated the various "Mississippi Depots" as agent for all Mississippi troops in the Army of Northern Virginia and the Army of the West.
