Xerox and typed copies of five letters written by Jefferson Davis to Benjamin Milner Blackburn, editor of The Madisonian of Madison, Georgia, from "Beauvoir, Harrison County, Mississippi" during the period July 4, 1881October 22, 1883. The letters reflect Mr. Davis' reaction to criticism by the press; deplore controversy between ex-Confederates, including himself and General J. E. Johnstone; and express his appreciation for the editorial support of Mr. Blackburn.
