SIZER (HENRY E.) PAPERS

1844 - 1867
Microfilm copy must be used. (MF Roll # 37135)

Forty bills of sale for slaves, and three letters. The slaves were brought by agents of Henry E. Sizer, of Jackson, in New Orleans, Louisiana; Richmond, Virginia; and Nashville, Tennessee, in the period 1844-1861. The letters include one dated at Memphis, Tennessee, July 14, 1856, from S. Mansfield to Henry E. Sizer, concerning "a lot of Negroes;" one dated April 16, 1867, at London, England, from C. M. Fisher, solicitor, to Henry E. Sizer, concerning estates in England, France, or Holland, in which Sizer thought he had an interest; and a letter dated May 13, 1870, at Yazoo City, Mississippi, from Hudson to Nye to Henry E. Sizer, concerning collection of a debt owed Sizer. The collection also includes a newspaper clipping concerning the heirs of Clement Wood, which is evidently a notice run by Henry E. Sizer, of Jackson.
