Letters and business papers of John P. Mitchell, of Yalobusha County, and of members of his family, and an autograph album of Mary L. Mitchell. Four of the letters (1852–1853) are from John P. Mitchell to John P. Nowell, of Grenada, who was a student at the University of Mississippi, and one letter (December 21, 1896) is from E. C. Walthall to John P. Nowell. Two items in 1868 pertain to agreements with and records of freedmen employed by John P. Mitchell. The autograph album (November 29, 1832–May 30, 1839) is 12 by 19 cm. in size and contains 37 pages.
