Land records, business papers, and letters of Hugh McDonald who owned a mercantile business at Laurel Hill as follows: "H. McDonald & Sons, Retail Dealers in Dry Goods, Clothing, Hats, Boots, Shoes, Groceries, Hardware, Crockery, Etc." (April 6, 1850–June 29, 1883). Three of the letters are from relatives who had gone to Texas (June 1, 1872–April 16, 1876).
