A typed copy of a letter from Alford E. Lewis of Jackson County to a Texas paper exposing General Edmund Jackson Davis, nominee for and later governor of Texas. The letter describes atrocities allegedly committed by General Davis in south Mississippi during the Civil War. Attached is a history of Ship Island in the Civil War written by Dr. C. E. Cain, with an alphabetical list of those who died on the island as prisoners of war.
