VIRDEN (E. AND S.) COMPANY ACCOUNT BOOKS

1885 - 1910

Four large ledgers of accounts of E. and S. Virden Company of Jackson, Mississippi, wholesale grocers, who advertised "Groceries, Dry Goods and Shoes," and whose offices were located at 514, 516, 518 East Pearl Street, Jackson. Samuel E. Virden and Edwin Virden evidently founded the firm, of which Samuel E. Virden was present in 1904. Samuel E. Virden died in Jackson in 1942. The ledgers contain approximately 2,500 pages of accounts, and are approximately 45 cm. by 31.5 cm. in size.
