Diaries of Helen E. Foote, of Hinds County, who later became Mrs. Charles Kent Brown, of Cayuga, Hinds County. The diaries were written when she was a young girl in her parents' home, when she was attending Port Gibson Female College, and when she was teaching in a rural school near Cayuga.

The first volume is dated January 1, 1883–December 31, 1884; January 8, 1887–April 27, 1888; is 37 cm. by 25 cm. in size; and contains 166 pages. The second volume is dated January 2, 1885–January 5, 1887; is 24 cm. by 19 cm. in size; and contains 155 pages.
