BROWNE (REV. W. P.) NOTEBOOK

Manuscript volume of notes kept by the Rev. W. P. Browne, of Pascagoula, missionary of the Episcopal Church in Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Georgia, and Louisiana, 1876–1918. Mr. Browne was ordained to the diaconate in St. Andrew's Church, Jackson, April 9, 1876, and to the priesthood in All Saint's Church, Grenada, on April 25, 1880. His missions in the state of Mississippi included Raymond, Edwards, Bolton, Bovina, Canton, Greenwood, Grenada, Brookhaven, McComb, and many others. He was the predecessor of the Rev. Val H. Sessions in rural mission work for the Episcopal Church in the state of Mississippi. Mr. Browne was born in 1850, and the date of his death is not known. The notebook is approximately 21.5 x 17.5 in size, and contains 24 pp. of ms. notes.
