Access
Films are available for public viewing in the Mississippi Dept. of Archives & History Search Room on 8mm videocassettes. Copies of the films are available under certain conditions and upon payment of certain fees as follows.
Each request for footage, reference or broadcast, must be in writing. Include in the request contact information, express delivery number, specific information concerning project, subject matter interests, and use for licensing.
Each view copy is for research purposes only; return after use is required.
Each view copy will be time-coded.
Orders are filled in the order they are received. The Department must receive the completed and signed invoice, signed agreement, payment and federal or airborne express delivery number before the view copy can be delivered.
Requests for copies of footage for personal use must be in writing for the director’s approval. Each copy will be on a time-coded VHS tape.
For duplication services performed in-house, a charge of $20.00 per hour, flat rate, and materials costs will be levied. When incurred, charges will be levied for mileage, equivalent to authorized state government mileage charges, and for meals and lodging costs.
Vendor costs will be billed directly to the patron. However, no vendor duplication work will be authorized by the Department until the patron supplies the vendor with a purchase order number or other vendor-acceptable work authorization.
The Department will select the vendor to provide duplication services. The Department is not responsible for the quality of duplication work performed by the vendor.
Each user of material from the Department's film collections will agree to indemnify the Department for any liabilities incurred by the Department as a result of misuse by the user of the Department's film or video tape material.
If Department material is used in a production, the Department will be supplied with a complimentary copy of the final product, to include all episodes of multi-episode productions. The format of the copy will be determined by the Department.
Any film or video duplicates received by a patron will be returned to the Department upon completion of use.
A three-day notice is requested for duplication. Orders without such notice are considered rush orders for which research and license fees are doubled.
Use fees may be charged.
